our CEO

Richard Piche

Richard Piche, CEO of the Alberta Métis Investment Corporation, brings over 50 years of distinguished leadership in the energy sector, spanning Canada and international markets. His career encompasses various management, director, and board roles, including positions at Northridge Exploration Ltd., ConocoPhillips Ltd., and Niko Resources. As a Managing Partner of Cascade Projects Ltd., he oversees an Indigenous-owned business in Calgary, AB, focusing on project management and Indigenous relations in the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors.

Notably, Mr. Piche facilitated talks between Finance Canada and 159 Indigenous communities affected by the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, aiding their understanding and participation in equity purchases or revenue sharing models. He is deeply involved in his Indigenous community, having chaired the Board of Apeetogosan Métis Development Inc. (AMDI), an Indigenous financial institution owned by the Métis Nation of Alberta. He has also chaired the Métis Entrepreneur Fund and is a member of the Circle For Aboriginal Relations (CFAR).

Mr. Piche has Métis ancestry deeply rooted in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, with Gabriel Dumont on his mother's side, and on his father's side, Pesew, Peechee Louis Piche, Chief of the mountain Cree and guide to Sir George Simpson in the Banff area during the early 1800s.

Mr. Piche proudly resides in Cochrane, AB, with his wife, Darlene, and is a devoted father to four children and a doting grandfather to three grandchildren.

Meet our Board

Juanita Marois

Juanita Marois is the CEO at Métis Crossing, and a proud citizen of Alberta’s Métis Nation. Juanita considers herself privileged to lead the exciting expansion of not only Alberta’s, but also Canada’s, first major Métis cultural destination. Just this past September, at the 2023 International Indigenous Tourism Conference in Winnipeg, Métis Crossing won the “Leading in Sustainability” award from the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada

Juanita earned her MA degree in sustainable tourism development from the University of Alberta where she continued as a lecturer for 2 years in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation.

Juanita has worked in the tourism industry for over 15 years with organizations such as Northlands Park and Princess Tours. Her experience has expanded from a front-line practitioner, to a planner, researcher and consultant. She has had unique opportunities to participate in socio-economic development, Indigenous tourism, and community investment projects that now feed her collaborative approach to Métis Crossing.

In June 2021 Juanita was appointed as a member of the Travel Alberta Board of Directors. Most recently in 2023, Juanita has been recognized by the Globe and Mail as one of Canada’s 50 Business Changemakers for 2023 and won a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee award!

Gwen Crouse

Gwen is an active member of the Métis Community, and is currently the Community Manager for McLeod Realty & Management Ltd. Having previously held positions with A1 Heating, Proctor and Gamble and spent over 23 years of her working career with ATB Financial.

Gwen has spent many years giving back by serving on boards including, Apeetogosan Metis Development Inc, CASA: Children & Adolescent Mental Health, Metis Child & Family Services, St. Albert Healing Garden Co-Chair, St. Albert Metis Local: Founding member, St Albert National Indigenous Day: Founding member, Hosted Alberta Indigenous Games 2013: chair.

She currently serves on the board of Wainwright Holdings Condo Board

Gwen is an avid Pickleball player, she resides in St Albert, Alberta with her husband Nolan and is a proud mother of 3 children and Grandmother of 5 Granchildren.

Rick Koshman

Rick is an experienced executive and Board member with a proven track record of building high performing teams across multiple facets of the energy and investing sector. Throughout his 25+ years of experience, he’s held a broad range of leadership roles within operations, engineering, and business strategy in Keyera Corp., Athabasca Oil Corp., Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., and PetroKazakhstan, and is currently a Managing Direct and Founder of the private investment firm, BluMaple Capital Partners.

He’s a long-term member of the Canadian Energy Executive Association serving on its Board for seven years and also currently sits on the Board of Advisors for Mayfair Lumber. He has also been a strong advocate for men’s health through his previous Board and fund-raising involvement with Prostate Cancer Canada. Rick has an MBA from IMD Business School in Switzerland, a Bachelor Mechanical Engineering from Lakehead University, completed the FSE program at Harvard Business School, and is a registered professional engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of Alberta.
